TEAM LANZAROTE IRONMAN

Undoubtedly one of the toughest person challenges an individual can undertake, The Ironman! These boys weren’t happy with just running a marathon, they thought lets go for a bike ride and a bit of swim as well!!! The team are very much looking forward to smashing themselves for FOLLOW THAT FIRE ENGINE.

TEAM MOTTO

Success is a decision, not a gift.

MARATHON SUMMARY

The Ironman is a long distance triathlon.

The idea for the original Ironman arose in Hawaii in 1978 to settle a long running debate between the Mid-Pacific Road Runners and the Waikiki Swim Club, over which athletes were more fit, runners or swimmers.

It is a simple concept. You swim 2.4 miles (3.86 km), you bike 112 miles (180.25 km) and then run a marathon (26 miles 385 yards, 42.195 km) all under 17 hours to be an official ironman.

Sounds easy? (Well, no, actually) The Lanzarote event doesn’t come any tougher. A two lap sea swim in the Atlantic. A hot and hilly bike course with a total elevation of 8,368 feet, and a scorching marathon with sun cooking you like a turkey in the constant Lanzarote hair dryer-esque winds. Normal limits do not apply in Lanzarote

It promises to be quite a formidable challenge which will push the team to absolute limits, both mentally and physically, in training as well as race day.

DAVE ORDERS

Greatest Personal Sporting Achievement In this context I've done one half ironman. It nearly killed me and Paul laughed at me as he passed me a few miles into the run. Less than happy
Sporting Hero In this context it's Ross for his ability to smoke on the starting line and then still smoke us all on the event. Oh.. and Paul.. cause he's the leader and I'd be nothing without him (according to him)
